Although Joyce is not interred in a Parisian cemetery (his grave is in Zurich), he, like legions of other artists, converged on the hub that was, and is, Paris. And not just artists but celebrated politicians, military figures, industrialists, philosophers and inventors from across the globe as well. Many stayed on until they met their own last end. Paris boasts no less than three necropoli (Montmartre, Montparnasse and Pere Lachaise), each holding the remains of thousands.
